Laughter is the best medicine

My husband and I are very easy-going and find humor in pretty much anything we do. When we were at our lowest point a few months ago we relied on our humor to help pull us out of our funk.  Even as we were in the hospital we joked, laughed and talked the day away with our visitors. I have a feeling that we might have looked a little strange to some of the staff that saw us considering the reason why we were there. Nurses would give us a few sideways glances when they came in to check on us and I desperately wanted to explain to them that our smiles weren’t because we didn’t care. To us, laughter made a very devastating time easier to deal with.

As I’ve said before, we have some of the best family and friends anyone could ask for. Not only did they drop what they were doing to help take care of our dog while we were in the hospital, but they packed our fridge full of tasty food and came over to visit and laugh with us anytime we asked. They are the best people to have around when you just need an escape from reality and we are lucky that they love to laugh just as much as we do.

This weekend we went to a Halloween party that our good friends throw every year. It was exactly what we live for – we laughed for hours, took tons of crazy pictures and danced the night away. Days like these are the exact reason why we laugh and find humor in everything we can. It’s days like these that make everything worthwhile.

A day without laughter is a day wasted ~ Charlie Chaplin
